A publication preoccupied with what software quietly writes to disk would be poorly placed to write anything to yours. This notice therefore describes, in some detail, storage and measurement we deliberately declined to build.
None is held. This site has no accounts, no reader profiles, no comment facility and no field into which anything could be entered. No route exists by which your details could reach us, so we retain no names, no addresses of any kind, no numbers and no messages.
Not a single cookie is set here, and nothing is written to local storage, session storage or any other persistent browser facility. There is consequently no consent dialogue, because there would be nothing for consent to govern. Your browser will cache the stylesheet, one script and the images so a return visit loads faster, and that cache belongs to you.
No analytics platform, tag manager, heat map, session replay tool or social pixel is present on any page. We deploy no measurement of our own and load none belonging to anybody else. We therefore have no idea which audits are read most, which we accept as the cost of the position.
No adverts appear here, no advertising network is contacted, no link carries an affiliate parameter and no page is sponsored. Reading a checkpoint audit contributes to no commercial profile of you, because nothing on this site is capable of building one.
Every file required to display these pages is served from this domain: one stylesheet, one script, all photographs and illustrations, the emblem and the favicon. No font service, script library, embedded player or media host is involved, so loading a page produces no request to any other party at all.
The web server that delivers these files may record ordinary technical details of a request: which file was asked for, when, the response code and a truncated network address. That behaviour is a property of the hosting rather than a decision of ours, is never linked to an identity, is not examined for patterns, and rotates out of existence quickly.
Our writing occasionally references material published elsewhere. Those destinations run under their own privacy practices, which we can neither inspect nor influence, and which take effect from the moment you leave this domain rather than while you are here.
This weekly is written for a general adult readership interested in how games structure progress. Since no personal data is gathered from any visitor whatsoever, none is gathered from minors either.
Data protection law grants rights of access, correction and deletion over personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to disclose, amend or erase. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight awaiting correction.
If this site ever acquires a feature that processes personal data, this notice will be rewritten before that feature appears and the change described in plain language, rather than folded silently into an updated date at the bottom of the page.
